Caius Zip, The Time Traveller – book series

Author: Regina Goncalves

360 pages

This journey in time starts with Caius Zip, the time traveller, in a forest in the outskirts of Paris, where he helps a pilot climb out of this strange flying machine that resembles a modern light aircraft. The small plane is stuck on top of a tree after a forced landing.

It is 1909 and the bubbling cultural, artistic and technological scenario of Paris is like no other in the world. A time thinking boldly in all areas, of reflecting and transgressing the superficial order of things. Consequently, you’ll see historical persons such as Eiffel, Proust, Matisse, Freud and Nijinsky “flying” to achieve their dreams.

In addition to Santos Dumont, who is immersed in his latest machine, the light aircraft Demoiselle, and the interesting characters that Caius meets in the field of technology, there are also incredible individuals who are revolutionizing other areas. Caius flies over Paris in the smallest dirigible built by Santos Dumont, called La Balladeuse, sometimes accompanied by the young and charming Valquiria, for whom he develops a crush, and other times accompanied by his small friend Tonio, who dreams of becoming a pilot. Who is this 9 year-old boy who will be famous in the future?

Later, Caius accompanies the great aviation week of Champagne – the first international aviation tournament – and then he visits the 1st aviation exhibition hall in the Grand Palais, Paris. There are also some surprising revelations about who invented the airplane, the pioneers and their contributions and patent wars.
